Below is my second submission to the SDSVP electronic newsletter. I am asking for input on goals for the organization. My hope is to get input from a wide cross section of Partners. My fear is that I will not get any input. I will be diligent in requesting input from the Partners and assume that slowly the Partners will realize that I am serious about their views.
====================================================
I have met with many old and new partners of SDSVP over the past few months. As the incoming Chair of SDSVP, I want to learn as much as I can from the collective wisdom of the partners. One message that I have heard over and over again is the wish that the decision making process be more transparent. Creating a new set of goals is an important strategic and tactical issue facing SDSVP. Getting your views and opinions will make this process easier and produce a higher quality set of goals.
Current thoughts are to set goals in the following areas
Recruitment of new members and retention of current members
Growth of the endowment
Partner satisfaction and Investee satisfaction
SDSVP leadership in San Diego community
SDSVP internal capacity
I am a firm believer in SMART goals. SMART goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Over the next few weeks, I will be gathering your feedback and incorporating that input into the goals that are presented to the Board.
As I said before, the most consistent message I have heard from the partners is to increase transparency. I am dedicated to making this happen and this is a step in that direction.
